Minor Remodeling Projects That Can
Greatly Improve Your Home

Add a deck
Not only does it add more living space, but adding a deck to your home can also increase your home's value, putting about 85% of the costs involved with your deck back into your pocket. If you put a deck in off of your kitchen or living room, you can add approximately 300 square feet of living space to your home. Your deck will serve as a great point of recreation and leisure and will be a good place to barbecue, eat, or just hang out. The deck can be simple, with nothing more than stairs leading to the yard, or fancy, with tiers or a hot tub added to it.

Adding an additional bathroom or remodeling current ones
Turning a half-bath into a full, if there is room, is a great minor remodeling project and typically will involve adding a shower or tub. If space is limited, you may be able to get away with just adding a standing shower.

If it would be too costly or impractical to add an additional bathroom to your home, consider remodeling instead. A minor bathroom remodel can include such projects as adding a marble vanity and sink, replacing tile in the shower, updating cabinets and sinks, changing lighting, repainting, or adding a larger mirror. These small enhancements can greatly improve your home.

Update your lighting
The way your home is lit can make a very big difference on your home overall. Consider adding track lighting, or wall sconces for lighting. Or, you can replace overhead lighting with a chandelier. Installing dimmers is an inexpensive and minor remodeling project that can also make a difference in the appearance of your home.

Replace sliding doors
Installing French doors where there were once sliding doors can add a look of elegance to your home and update the look that leads to your backyard or patio. This is a minor remodeling project that can be completed in an afternoon.

Replace flooring
If the flooring in your home, whether it is carpeting, linoleum, or something else, is looking outdated and worn, consider replacing it with something more updated. For example, if your downstairs is a mixture of carpeting and tile, consider replacing it will all hardwood and add area rugs. This can greatly improve the look of your home.

Remodeling projects need not break the bank to make a difference. There are many minor remodeling projects that can greatly improve your home.
